


Red Raiders rollHUNTLEY– It takes most softball teams at least three or four games to score 31 runs. On Tuesday, Huntley needed only four innings. The Red Raiders rapped out 17 hits against Jefferson in a 31-1 win in an IHSA Class 4A Huntley Regional semifinal, a five-inning win in which they batted only four times. Huntley scored 12 in the first, 11 in the second, two in the third and six in the fourth. Taylor Larson (19-9) pitched three innings and struck out five and Karlie Swanson was 3 for 4 with three RBIs for Huntley, which will play for the regional championship Saturday against the winner of today’s game between Dundee-Crown and Jacobs. Class 3A Lakes Regional: At Lake Villa, Mary Chamberlain went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Jordi Vorisek drove in a run for fourth-seeded Johnsburg, which lost its semifinal to top-seeded Antioch, 18-6. BASEBALL Prairie Ridge 11, Lakes 5: At Prairie Ridge, Zach Siedlecki led Prairie Ridge (25-1), going for 4 for 4 and driving in a run in a non-conference victory against Lakes. • Ken Kozel contributed to this report. |
