Sanders steps down at Jacobs
By Joe Stevenson
Eric Sanders has resigned his position as Jacobs head baseball coach after three seasons, during which time the Golden Eagles were 47-52.
Sanders sent an e-mail to the Northwest Herald with a copy of the letter of resignation he sent to District 300 and Jacobs athletic director Tom Ross attached.
In the e-mail, Sanders said he was going to pursue other opportunities and challenges, and that he felt he's leaving the program in healthy shape for the next coach.
"When I first started three years ago, we had two specific goals," Sanders stated in the letter. "To establish a respectable baseball program and, more importantly, to instill character and leadership in the student-athletes. Overall, these were realized with flying colors.
"As a mentor to virtually all of the young men I’ve had the pleasure to coach, I walk away knowing that we did everything to protect their best interests. In that role, lifelong relationships have been established that will continue on for years to come. Those are the rewards and accomplishments I will cherish the most."
