Sky High Volleyball’s 16 Black team brought home a first-place trophy in the 16 open division of the AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships in Orlando, Fla..

The 16 Black went 11-2 overall from June 15-23, beating Pinellas Heat 16 Elite on Wednesday for the tournament title.

Marian Central’s Abby Gilleland was named the Most Valuable Player while Cary-Grove’s Ashley Rosch and Huntley’s Amy Dion were named All-Americans.

The 16 Black headed to Reno, Nev., on Thursday to play in the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships, which run through July 3. The team has an opportunity to win a second national title this summer should it win the open division in Reno.

Sky High qualified six teams – 17 Red, 16 Black, 15 Black, 14 Red, 14 Purple and 12 Black – for the USA Volleyball Championships, a tournament Sky High director Scott Harris described as the “most prestigious tournament in the nation.”
