CL Central boys top Grayslake Central

LAKEWOOD – Caelan Murphy and J.B. Garoufalis tied for medalist honors Thursday in Crystal Lake Central’s 157-167 Fox Valley Conference boys golf win against Grayslake Central at Turnberry Country Club.

Murphy and Garoufalis led the Tigers with 2-over-par 38s. Brent Wadzita followed, shooting a 40 for Crystal Lake Central (1-0 overall, 1-0 FVC). Eric Slusin and Max Rand each shot a 41 for the Tigers.

Huntley 157, Cary-Grove 165: At Pinecrest in Huntley, Craig Ryan took medalist honors, shooting even-par 36 for the Red Raiders (1-0, 1-0) in their FVC win.

Sam Yun shot a 39, and Mason Wicks added a 40 for Huntley. Dan DePrey’s 40 led the Trojans (0-1, 0-1), and Justin Kinney shot a 41.

McHenry 159, Johnsburg 165: At Boone Creek in Bull Valley, the Warriors (1-0, 1-0) won the FVC dual meet behind Anthony Mertz’s 1-over 37 and Andrew Reisinger’s 39.

Rick Pries took medalist honors for the Skyhawks (0-1, 0-1) with a 35 that included an eagle and two birdies.

Marengo 177, Richmond-Burton 201: At Marengo Ridge in Marengo, Riley Kenny shot a 2-over 38 to earn medalist honors for the Indians (2-2, 1-0) in their Big Northern Conference win. Frank Cusimano added a 41 for Marengo.

Andrew Duchaine led the Rockets with a 47.

Lakes 170, Belvidere North 175, Hampshire 193: At Timber Pointe in Belvidere, Hampshire’s Jeremy Yoder shot a 41, putting him in a four-way tie for medalist honors. Geoff Beck added a 49 for Hampshire.

Woodstock Invitational: At Plum Tree in Harvard, Tyler Cundiff just missed a top-10 finish with a 78 for Woodstock. Brett McClellan shot an 86 for the Blue Streaks, who finished eighth in the nine-team tournament with 356 points.

GIRLS

Richmond-Burton 225, Marengo 228: At Marengo Ridge in Marengo, Brittany Selepa shot a 51 for the Rockets to take medalist honors. Krista Toms added a 53 for Richmond-Burton.

Danielle Tucker led the Indians with a 53.

Jacobs 212, Hoffman Estates 220: At Randall Oaks in West Dundee, Kelsey Woloszyk shot a 48 for medalist honors for the Golden Eagles (1-0) in a non-conference win. Morgan Harvey shot a 51, and Kaitlynn Woloszyk added a 54 for Jacobs.
