


Gators 3rd at inviteHUNTLEY – The Crystal Lake South boys golf team went into Saturday’s Huntley Invitational hoping to improve upon the third-place finish it earned Monday in its season-opening Prairie Ridge Invitational. Instead, the Gators found themselves finishing in a familiar spot. Nick Robles and Brendon Knaizer each shot 5-over-par 77 at Whisper Creek, and Crystal Lake South again finished third, with a team score of 315 in the 10-team event. Mundelein (308) won the tournament, with Jacobs (318) finishing fourth, Crystal Lake Central (321) fifth, Huntley (343) seventh, Dundee-Crown (358) eighth and Hampshire (373) ninth. Scott Cahill paced Jacobs with a 3-over 75 to finish fourth. JB Garoufalis and Corban Murphy each shot 4-over 76 to lead Central. St. Patrick Invitational: At McHenry Country Club, Evan Mass shot a 1-over 73 as Marian Central (319) finished second in the four-team event. McHenry (346) was fourth, and St. Patrick (314) was the champion. Luke Waggoner added a 6-over 78 for Marian. Paul Damiani’s 10-over 82 led McHenry. • Andy Schmidt contributed to this report. |
