


Jacobs’ Cahill fires 33WEST DUNDEE – Jacobs’ Scott Cahill has had no trouble picking up where he left off last year’s Northwest Herald Golfer of the Year campaign. After shooting even par to earn medalist honors Tuesday, the senior shot a 2-under-par 33 to earn top honors again Thursday to lead Jacobs to a 152-168 Fox Valley Conference victory against Huntley at Randall Oaks. Devin Sloma shot a 38 for Jacobs (2-1 overall, 2-0 FVC), and Ryan Craig’s 40 led Huntley. CL Central 160, Johnsburg 188: At Turnberry in Lakewood, the Tigers’ Brent Wadzita earned medalist honors with a 39 to lead the Tigers (2-1) to an FVC win against Johnsburg (0-3). McHenry 154, Grayslake North 181: At McHenry Country Club, Paul Damiani, Anthony Mertz and Riley Lindholm all shot 38s to lead the Warriors (3-0, 3-0) to an FVC win. Harvard Triangular: At Plum Tree National in Harvard, Hampshire (166) defeated Winnebago (180) and Harvard (221). Jeremy Yoder earned medalist honors with a 1-over 37 for Hampshire (2-3), and Richmond-Burton 182, North Boone 182: At Beaver Creek in Capron, Tommy Duex’s 15-over 50 as the sixth score broke a tie and vaulted the Rockets to the Big Northern Conference victory. Kaneland 166, Marengo 197: At Marengo Ridge, Frank Cusimano shot a 44 to lead the Indians (5-4) in a non-conference loss. SOCCER North Shore Shootout: At Lake Forest, Dundee-Crown (2-1) dropped its first game of the season against Deerfield, 1-0. Scott Nowicke made 13 saves for the Chargers. Grayslake North 2, Prairie Ridge 1 (2OT): At Crystal Lake, the Wolves lost an FVC Fox Division match against the Rams in their division opener. CROSS COUNTRY Antioch Double Dual: At Fox River Park in Silver Lake, Wis., Richmond-Burton won two duals, beating Antioch, 17-46, and Grayslake North, 19-43.
