Wauconda rallies past Huntley

Wauconda 44, Huntley 34

Game summary: At Wauconda, Huntley jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, but then the Wauconda offense woke up and took over the game. The Bulldogs used a balanced attack on offense, but the arm of quarterback Brian Kent did the big damage as he threw for three second-quarter touchdowns.

Top player: Huntley quarterback Tim Lycos accounted for four touchdowns on the night, two through the air and two on the ground.

Key stat: Wauconda scored 30 unanswered points after falling behind, including 24 in the last 7:23 of the second quarter.

Quote: “I was happy with the attitude out of the second half, with the rough second quarter we had,” Huntley coach Matt Gehrig said after his first game.

Next: Huntley (0-1) hosts Kaneland in its second non-conference game of the season.
