Cahill’s 3-under 33 helps Jacobs cruise

WEST DUNDEE – Scott Cahill is living up to the hype of trying to repeat as Northwest Herald Golfer of the Year.

Cahill shot a 3-under-par 33 on Wednesday as Jacobs defeated Woodstock in Fox Valley Conference play, 155-167, to improve to 4-1 on the season and in the FVC.

“It was kind of the standard round for him,” Jacobs coach Jeremy Bauer said. “He hit good shots off the tee and was converting birdie opportunities when they were there. He is putting together another good season.”

Dan Mahan shot a 39 to lead the Blue Streaks (0-2, 0-2).

Byron 165, Marengo 179: At Marengo Ridge, Frank Cusimano shot a 4-over 40 as the Indians lost in Big Northern Conference play. Riley Kenny added a 45 for Marengo (5-5, 1-2 BNC).

Burlington Central 157, Harvard 219: At Plum Tree in Harvard, Nate Genz shot a 6-over 42 as the Hornets (0-6, 0-3) lost the BNC match.

Antioch 165, Richmond-Burton 184: At Spring Valley in Salem, Wis., Matt Swanson and Nate Karpinski each shot 10-over 45s as the Rockets (1-2) lost in non-conference play.

Huntley 1, West Chicago 1: At Wauconda, Javier Diaz scored on a second-half penalty kick as the Red Raiders came away with the tie in the Wauconda Tournament. Aleksander Rys made two saves for Huntley (1-2-1).
