Aurora Central Catholic holds off Marengo

Summary: At Aurora, a couple of costly Marengo turnovers in the second quarter helped stake Aurora Central Catholic to a 19-0 lead by halftime.
The Indians started to rally in the third quarter, but lost the momentum when running back Cody Bauman left the game with an ankle injury.

Key play: Marengo fumbled a snap at its own 1-yard line with about 4:30 left in the second quarter, and the Chargers recovered to set up their second touchdown.

Key stat: Bauman’s 78 yards rushing in 11 attempts accounted for about half of the Indians’ 158 yards of total offense.

Top player: Chargers quarterback Stewart de Waard was 4 for 9 passing for 73 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown pass.

Quote: “We came out in the third quarter strong, but a slow start prevented us from winning,” Bauman said.
