Jacobs finally beats PR in volleyball

CRYSTAL LAKE – Jacobs’ Alyssa Ehrhardt picked a great match to be virtually unstoppable.

Ehrhardt posted 19 kills and 11 digs to spur the Golden Eagles to a 15-25, 25-21, 25-19 Fox Valley Conference crossover win against Prairie Ridge. The comeback win marked Jacobs’ first victory against the Wolves during Lisa Dwyer’s six years as Jacobs’ coach.

Dwyer made sure her team was aware of Jacobs’ losing streak against Prairie Ridge before the match, which served as additional motivation.

But after a shaky start and struggles against Prairie Ridge’s tough serves, Dwyer adjusted the lineup and told the team to shake off the first-set loss.

“Our defense and our offense just started to pick it up. They just really wanted it,” Dwyer said.

“Winning big momentum plays really made a difference.”
