Vilardo had 10 goals and three assists in four games as the Trojans finished 2-2-1 in the Metro Central Scholastic Cup playoffs. Vilardo scored all five goals in C-G’s 5-5 tie with Barrington on Wednesday. Unfortunately for the Trojans, the game could not help them in the standings. Barrington and Crystal Lake South already had sewn up the two spots to advance in the playoffs. Vilardo had two shorthanded goals and two assists in Sunday’s 8-4 win against Conant. He scored C-G’s only goal in a 6-1 loss to South on Saturday, and he had two goals and an assist in Friday’s 7-5 victory over Fremd. Noteworthy Kazmer, Mahoney All-State: Two players from the Upper Fox Valley girls hockey team were named to the AHAI Girls All-State team, forwards Alexandra Kazmer and Taylor Mahoney. Kazmer, a Crystal Lake Central junior, led Upper Fox Valley with 58 points on 35 goals and 23 assists. Mahoney, a senior at Cary-Grove, had 11 points with seven goals and four assists in 10 games. This week’s top games Metro Central Scholastic Cup Playoffs Crystal Lake South at St. Viator 5:10 p.m. Sunday The Gators finished second in the Metro Central Scholastic Cup playoffs and earned the right to move on in the eight-team, single-elimination tournament. This is their first game of that phase. AHAI Blackhawk Cup Prairie Ridge vs. Warren 8:20 p.m. Sunday Crystal Ice House Prairie Ridge is the No. 8 seed and Warren is No. 25 in the AHAI Blackhawk Cup Red Division State Tournament. This is both teams’ opener in the tournament. Crystal Lake South vs. New Trier Blue 7:55 p.m. Thursday in Wilmette This is South’s opener in the AHAI Blackhawk Cup Red Division State Tournament. South is seeded 19th, New Trier Blue is 14th.
