Nate Pollock led the Tigers (5-5 overall, 2-2 FVC Fox), going 2 for 4 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored. Robbie Lemke earned his third win of the season for the Gators (6-3, 2-2 FVC Valley) in a 9-1 win in Game 2 to split the doubleheader for a Fox Valley Conference crossover win. Lemke allowed five hits over five innings of work, striking out two and allowing no walks. Nick Martin and Chris Morrison each had two RBIs on two hits for the Gators in Game 2. Huntley 8-11, Johnsburg 1-0: At Johnsburg, Huntley won both ends of an FVC crossover doubleheader behind pitchers Bryan Doherty in the first game and Craig Klein in the second game. Brody Burkart was 5 for 7 with five RBIs in the two games for Huntley (8-1, 4-0), and Colin Lyman had a three-run double in the opener. Johnsburg (2-8, 0-4) got two hits apiece from Zack Miller and George Bielis in the second game. Hampshire 5, Round Lake 4: At Hampshire, sophomore pitcher Tyler Crater allowed one earned run on four hits, notched eight strikeouts and didn’t issue a walk for the Whip-Purs (4-4). Crater helped himself at the plate in the bottom of the seventh. He led off the inning with a double and scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error to home plate. Belvidere 3-9, Marengo 2-8: At Belvidere, the Bucs won a pair of one-run non-conference games against the Indians, scoring the winning run in both games in the seventh inning on bloop hits to right field, Marengo coach Jeff Dobbertin said. Jarvis Hernandez was 5 for 8 with three runs scored in the doubleheader for Marengo (2-9). Danny Domek went 2 for 2 with two RBIs in the second game. Grayslake Central 3-11, Prairie Ridge 1-6: At Grayslake Central, Rams pitcher Austin Leggett threw a one-hitter in Game 1 and struck out four en route to the first of two FVC Fox Division victories against the Wolves. In the second game, Mark Ash improved to 2-0 on the season, allowing two runs and scattering six hits in five innings for the Rams (5-3, 2-1). Senior pitcher Lucas Keller took both losses for the Wolves (2-7, 0-2). Marian Central 3, Lakes 2: At Lake Villa, Joey Klinger earned a complete-game win, allowing two earned runs over seven innings and striking out two for the Hurricanes (5-1) in their non-conference win. Scott Taylor had two RBIs and a run on two hits, and Ian Maxiener had an RBI on one hit. Richmond-Burton 1, Stillman Valley 0: At Richmond, James Lesniewski went 2 for 3 in a Big Northern Conference crossover game to lead the Rockets (9-1) past Stillman Valley (10-2) with an RBI double in the fourth inning. E.J. Trapino picked up the win for R-B, striking out 10 and allowing two hits in seven innings. Dundee-Crown 4-6, Woodstock North 2-3: At Woodstock North, Michael Hazelhurst (2-1) struck out six Thunder batters to give the Chargers (6-6, 3-1) a win in FVC crossover action. North fell to 3-5, 0-4. Chargers pitcher Chris Gorman (1-1), with closing help from Erik Brewer, who earned the save, completed the doubleheader sweep for D-C. Grayslake North 1-4, McHenry 5-2: At McHenry, with four first-inning runs and a 2 for 4 outing from Cody Freund, the Warriors (4-5, 3-1 FVC Valley) topped Grayslake North (3-7, 2-2 FVC Fox) in Game 1 in an FVC crossover game. Grayslake North battled back behind pitcher Tom Elias to split the doubleheader. Alden-Hebron 19, Faith Christian 0: At Williams Bay, Wis., Cody Eskridge and Mitch Hooper both went 4 for 4 at the plate with two home runs apiece to lead the Giants (5-5) to a shutout of Faith Christian in non-conference play. Mitch Hooper picked up the win for Alden-Hebron. Harvard 11-6, Bigfoot 6-6: At Harvard, the Hornets (5-9) picked up two non-conference wins against Bigfoot in a doubleheader. Brian Koester went 4 for 4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI for the Hornets. Pat Towne (1-2) and Travis Heck (2-1) picked up the wins. BOYS TENNIS Hersey Invitational: At Hersey, Cary-Grove’s No. 1 singles player Chris Federighi and No. 2 singles player Owen Russell each went 3-0 for the Trojans, as Cary-Grove beat Hersey, 6-1, but lost to York, 4-3, and Prospect, 5-2, to take fourth place. Hoffman Estates Quadrangular: At Hoffman Estates, Jacobs’ Brian Kaczar and Kinchit Joshi won four consecutive games to win their No. 1 doubles match against Geneva, however the Golden Eagles lost, 3-2, to the Vikings. Jacobs (5-4) went on to defeat Belvidere, 5-0, and Hoffman Estates, 3-2. Marian Central 4, Chicago Christian 1: At Woodstock, Riley Waters won his No. 1 singles match, 6-2, 6-0, for the Hurricanes, and Andy Yuk and Will Kaufmann won their No. 2 doubles match, 6-0, 6-2, as Marian took all three doubles matches. Jefferson Quad: At Rockford, Huntley’s No. 2 doubles team, Alex Fermo and Vance Alvarez won all three of their matches, beating Rochelle’s Ryan Frank and Emmanuel Garcia, 6-3, 6-4, and Sterling Newman’s Nate Miller and Eric Ardis, 7-5, 7-6 (8-6). Junior Tanner Novalinski picked up a win against Jefferson in No. 1 singles play, 6-1, 6-3, and Joey Perrone and Chris Clavero won two of their three No. 3 doubles matches. CL South Quad: At Crystal Lake, senior Cam Laktash won all three of his matches at No. 1 singles, and the Gators beat Bartlett, 3-2; DeKalb, 5-0; and Wheaton Warrenville South, 3-2. Junior Jimmy Uvodich and No. 3 doubles partner sophomore Josh Ramos won all three of their matches. No. 1 doubles tandem Ryan Kinross and Adam Kay beat Bartlett’s Amaya Shenly and Rich Bayram, 6-3, 6-2, and Wheaton Warrenville South’s Nick Geannopoulis and Noah Thacker, 6-0, 6-3. Johnsburg 5, Wauconda 2: At Johnsburg, Colin Goulet defeated Elijay Harrison, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, and Kevin Wells and Jack Schneider topped their No. 1 doubles opponents, 6-0, 6-3, to lead Johnsburg past Wauconda in non-conference play. Johnsburg 6, Grant 1: At Johnsburg, Colin Goulet, Jared Spears and Dan Landon swept the singles matchups for the Skyhawks for the 6-1 win. Downers Grove Invite: At Downers Grove, Sam McNally won two doubles matches for Prairie Ridge as the Wolves defeated Larkin, 3-2, but fell to Downers Grove North, 3-2 and Batavia, 3-2. BOYS TRACK & FIELD Riverside-Brookfield Bulldog Relays: At Brookfield, William Hennessy won the 1,600, and Nick Ellingson won the 3,200 to lead Jacobs to the team championship with 88 points. Woodstock took second with 611⁄2 points. The Golden Eagles dominated the relays. Woodstock was led by Donte Arnold, who won the triple jump and was second in the 300 intermediate hurdles, and Eddie Grogg, who won the high jump at 6-6. Conant Relays: At Hoffman Estates, Dundee-Crown’s Ardian Asani, Jacob Kirchhoff, Trevor Downing and R.J. Schmidt leaped a total of 22 feet to win the high jump relay. It was the Chargers’ only first-place finish at the meet. D-C was fifth out of eight teams with 107 points. Don Gooden Invitational: At Mendota, Harvard took fourth in the 12-team meet, led by throwers Buddy Lasker and Adam Schmidt, both of whom placed in the shot put and discus. Lasker was second in the shot put and third in discus; Schmidt took fourth in both events. Saxon Invite: At Schaumburg, Marc DiVerde took second in the 1,600 in 9:34.90, and Mitch Wilkins placed fourth in 9:40.40 for Prairie Ridge as the Wolves took seventh place with 41 points. Minooka won the invite with 93 points. The Wolves also got a third-place finish from Kerry Kohlbacher in 51.76 seconds. Deerfield Invitational: At Deerfield, Matt Biederwolf won the 800 in 2:01.3 for Crystal Lake South as the Gators took sixth place with 32 points. Deerfield won the invite with 151 points. Mike Hernandez finished second in the 400-meter dash in 53.2 seconds for the Gators. Rockford Lutheran Classic: At Rockford, Jon Walsh won two events for Woodstock North, taking first in the 110 hurdles in 17.74 seconds and the triple jump at 38-8 3⁄4 inches, as the Thunder won the meet with 171 points. Marian Central took fifth place with 41 points, with Eric Skaleski winning the 400-meter dash in 53.62 seconds. Alden-Hebron’s Jeremy Gricar won the long jump at 19-2, as the Giants took sixth place with 35.5 points.
