Austin Ives won the high and long jumps for the Warriors, and Corey Szamlewski won the 200 and pole vault. Prairie Ridge was second with 69 points, led by Joe Cowlin (3,200), Joe Campbell (300 intermediate hurdles) and Mitch Wilkins (1,600), who all had individual firsts. Huntley Triangular: The Red Raiders’ overall depth came through as they won their own meet between three FVC teams with 75 points. Cary-Grove, led by four first-place finishes from Anthony Golowach, was second with 68. Chase Hellinger won the 110 high hurdles, and Jake Brock won the 300 intermediate hurdles to lead Huntley. Trevoe Obecny won the 1,600. Golowach high jumped 6 feet, 6 inches, his best of the outdoor season, and also swept the 100, 200 and 400. Dundee-Crown Triangular: At Carpentersville, Max Kittle won the 110 high and 300 intermediate hurdles, and Ardian Asani won the high and long jumps for the host Chargers in a three-team meet between FVC teams. Grayslake Central won with 87 points, Crystal Lake South was second with 54 and D-C was third with 43. South’s Kenny King won the 200 and 400. TENNIS Cary-Grove 7, Johnsburg 0: At Cary, Owen Russell at No. 2 singles recovered from a 6-1 loss in the first set against Johnsburg’s Jared Spears to win the next two sets, 6-0, 6-1, in an FVC victory for the Trojans (7-4 overall, 3-1 FVC). McHenry 6, Grant 1: At Fox Lake, McHenry (2-2) swept the singles matches behind Dylan Clark’s 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 in a non-conference victory for the Warriors. Woodstock North 4, Marengo 1: At Woodstock, Genyl Rufino and Mitch Laabs won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles for the Thunder as Woodstock North topped Marengo in non-conference play. Carmel 3, Marian Central 2: At Carmel, Marian Central’s Will Kaufmann and Andy Yuk defeated RJ Paulson and Chris Wilkinson, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5, in No. 1 doubles, supplementing Aaron Waters’ No. 2 singles win, but the Hurricanes lost in non-conference play. BASEBALL Hampshire 12, South Elgin 5: At Genoa, Jake Kuhn allowed three runs and struck out four in 62⁄3 innings to lead the Whip-Purs to a non-conference win. Kuhn (2 for 2) and Dan Grzywa (2 for 5) each added two RBIs, and Chase Lundry went 2 for 4 with three RBIs for Hampshire (5-4). Westminster Christian 2, Marengo 0: At Elgin, the Indians (2-10) had one walk in the non-conference loss. Alden-Hebron 11, Berean Baptist 1 (5 inn.): At Rockford, Cody Eskridge and Connor Schroeder each went 2 for 3 for Alden-Hebron (6-5) as the Giants defeated Berean Baptist in non-conference action.
