


Prairie Ridge’s Coel no-hits Woodstock North in 5-inning winCRYSTAL LAKE – Zack Coel had his best start of the season for Prairie Ridge’s baseball team Wednesday. Coel struck out 10 and threw a five-inning no-hitter for the Wolves in a 14-0 Fox Valley Conference Fox Division win against Woodstock North. Alex Martini went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored, and Matt Krenz drove in three runs to lead the Wolves (7-16, 5-8). Josh Neely pitched the loss for the Thunder (4-14, 0-13), going 22⁄3 innings with three walks and a strikeout. Marian Central 20, Immaculate Conception 2 (5 inn.): At Elmhurst, Corey Rambuski pitched five innings, struck out two and gave up two runs for the Hurricanes (10-4, 6-3) in the Suburban Christian Conference win. Andrew Stone added three RBIs on hitting 3 for 3 from the plate for Marian Central. Grayslake Central 12, Woodstock 4: At Woodstock, Mike Carsello went 1 for 4 with two RBIs, a home run and a run scored in the Blue Streaks’ FVC loss. Pat Santucci went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and a double, Jacob Ellegood picked up an RBI and Ryan Leonard was 2 for 4 with a run scored, a double and an RBI for Woodstock (5-14, 4-9). Cary-Grove 2, Wauconda 0: At Cary, Daniel Vilardo went 2 for 2, and Alex Wyans went 1 for 2 with an RBI for the Trojans (16-7) in a non-conference victory. John Spoelstra picked up the win in two innings. He struck out three and allowed two hits. Jacobs 5, CL South 1: At Crystal Lake, Henry Gigeous struck out 10 and allowed just one run in pitching a complete game for the Golden Eagles (11-9, 7-4) in the FVC Valley Division win. Zac Camacho hit a three-run home run, and Dillon O’Toole homered and hit a double for Jacobs. The Gators (14-6, 10-5) scored their only run in the bottom of the sixth. St. Francis 6, Hampshire 4: At Hampshire, Matt Calvello pitched four innings, gave up three runs and struck out one batter for the Whip-Purs (11-7) in the loss. Dundee-Crown 5, Grayslake North 4: At Carpentersville, Dylan Kissack hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Scott Nowicke for the winning run for the Chargers (15-10, 12-5 FVC Valley) in the FVC win. SOFTBALL Cary-Grove 8, Grayslake Central 1: At Cary, Lindsay Efflandt had 12 strikeouts in pitching a one-hitter for the Trojans (20-1) in the FVC win. Emma Gaulke and Taylor Dunne both went 2 for 4 at the plate and drove in one run apiece for C-G. CL South 11, McHenry 3: At McHenry, Sam Golf had two strikeouts in seven innings for the Gators (12-7, 5-5) in the FVC Valley Division win. Jamie Beelow (3 for 3) drove in two runs, and Tori Stevenson went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for South. Jacobs 11, Woodstock North 0 (5 inn.): At Algonquin, Amber Livingston (4-3) struck out eight, walked none and allowed five hits in a five-inning shutout for Jacobs (12-10) in FVC crossover play. Alyssa Lach had a double and three RBIs for the Golden Eagles. Nikki Greenhill went 1 for 1 for Woodstock North (4-13). Harvard 15, North Boone 1 (6 inn.): At Poplar Grove, Maty Brincks pitched a complete game, struck out two and gave up just one run for the Hornets (12-5, 3-2) in the BNC East Division win. Sam Hereley (3 for 5) homered, and Kaelyn Anderson went 2 for 3 with three RBIs for Harvard. Richmond-Burton 5, Marian Central 4 (8 inn.): At Woodstock, Haylea Hoskins drove in the winning run for the Rockets (5-9) in the eighth inning of the non-conference win. Courtney Einecker gave up four earned runs in eight innings for the Hurricanes (7-5). Prairie Ridge 6, CL Central 0: At Crystal Lake, Kirsten Stevens got the win for the Wolves (12-5, 7-0), fanning six batters en route to pitching a complete-game shutout against the Tigers (14-5, 8-2) in FVC Fox Division play. Jackie Kisman took the loss for Central. Grayslake North 12, Woodstock 0: At Woodstock, Rachel Lohmeyer pitched five innings and allowed eight hits for the Blue Streaks (0-15, 0-10) in the FVC Fox Division loss. Janelle Krueger and Katelyn Johnson both went 1 for 2 for Woodstock. Johnsburg 7, Dundee-Crown 3: At Carpentersville, Emily LeClair struck out five and allowed only one run for the Skyhawks (5-8, 5-5 FVC Fox) in the FVC crossover win. LeClair singled twice and added two RBIs, Bre Baer hit three singles and drove in a run, and Mary Kay Wright went 2 for 4 with three RBIs for Johnsburg. Melany Love doubled for the Chargers (2-16, 1-11 FVC Valley). BOYS TENNIS Hampshire 4, Aurora Central Catholic 1: At Hampshire, the Whip-Purs’ Christian DeLaCruz won his No. 1 singles match, 6-0, 6-1, and Elisha Hougland won his No. 2 singles match, 6-0, 6-0, to lead the Whip-Purs (9-4, 2-0) to a non-conference win. Chris West and Samuel Hougland won their No. 1 doubles match, 6-0, 6-1, and Austin Eaton and Basit Syed won their No. 3 doubles match, 6-1, 6-0. Cary-Grove 6, Dundee-Crown 1: At Cary, Chris Federighi won at No. 1 singles, beating Kevin Brandstatter, 6-0, 6-0 to lead Cary-Grove (16-7, 7-4 FVC). Mike Barrett and Michael Scott won at No. 2 singles for the Trojans, beating Mike Hairgrove and Nick Hairgrove, 6-2, 6-1. Dundee-Crown’s Eric Martens and Joe Aschacher beat Alex Koerber and Andrew Graczyk, 6-4, 6-1 in No. 1 doubles, for the Chargers’ lone point. CL Central 6, Woodstock North 1: At Woodstock, Tommy Nelson at No. 1 singles and Tyler George at No. 2 singles won their matches, 6-0, 6-0, to lead the Tigers to an FVC victory against the Thunder. Mitch Laabs won at No. 3 singles for North. CL South 7, Johnsburg 0: At Johnsburg, South singles players Cam Laktash, Nick Zelasko and Jimmy Uvodich lost only three games combined in leading the Gators to an FVC victory against the Skyhawks. Grayslake North 4, Huntley 3: At Huntley, the Red Raiders lost in FVC play despite three-set victories by the No. 1 doubles team of Eric Loboda and Francis Ramirez and the No. 4 doubles team of Nick Fangman and Alex Fermo. GIRLS SOCCER Woodstock North 4, Waukegan 1: At Woodstock, the Thunder (6-10-1) had goals from Almundena Garcia, Haylee Nutter, Jacque Nordvall and Adrianna Miranda in a make-up game from the Lakes Tournament on April 20. Haylee Nutter and Shelby Nicholson were named to the all-tournament team. Richmond-Burton 2, Harvard 0: At Harvard, Maggie Koren and Sam Boettjer each scored a goal for the Rockets (8-6-2, 3-3-1) in their BNC East Division match against Harvard (8-9-1, 2-6). Courtney Kaminscky and Hannah Condit each had assists for R-B. BOYS TRACK AND FIELD Harvard 90, Richmond-Burton 68: At Richmond, David Martinez won the triple jump (36 feet, 101⁄2 inches), Buddy Lasker won the shot put (42-1), Fernando Olivas won the pole vault (8-0), and Matt Smith won the long jump (18-9) to lead the Hornets to the win. Jorge Pichardo had the top time in the 1,600 meters (4:51.61) for Harvard as well.
