McHenry’s Feilen throws no-hitter

ALGONQUIN – McHenry senior Joe Feilen (5-1) continued an impressive stretch of personal and team success Monday, throwing a no-hitter against Jacobs in a 5-0 Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win.

Feilen has allowed two earned runs in his past three starts, and the Warriors have won 12 consecutive games.

“Everybody was really excited” Warriors coach Brian Rockweiler said. “Everybody knew what was going on, but nobody was talking about it until everyone stood up for the second out [in the seventh inning].”

Feilen struck out six batters and issued three walks in the 76-pitch no-hitter.

“[Feilen] kept them off balance, and we made some pretty good plays behind him,” Rockweiler said.

Senior pitcher-turned-DH Pat Maher scored two of McHenry’s four second-inning runs, and senior Chase Mattheson went 2 for 3 with a double for the Warriors (18-7 overall, 17-2 FVC Valley).
