


Inside boys track and fieldAthletes of the week Max Kittle Dundee-Crown, sr. The Chargers’ senior won the 110-meter high and 300 intermediate hurdles in Friday’s Fox Valley Conference Meet to help D-C to fifth place with 51 points. Kittle won the 110 high hurdles in 14.79, just off the state-qualifying standard of 14.74. In the 300 hurdles, he ran 39.17, which is well under the state-qualifying mark of 39.84. Katie Idstein Crystal Lake Central, jr. Idstein was 4 for 4 at the IHSA Class 2A Belvidere North Sectional, crossing the finish line first in every race she ran. Idstein defeated freshman teammate Celeste Madda in the 100 and 200 meters. She then anchored the Tigers’ winning 4x100 and 4x200 relays, in which Madda also ran. Central qualified 10 entries for the IHSA Girls Track and Field State Meet, which runs Friday and Saturday at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
This week’s top meets Girls IHSA Girls State Track and Field Meet Thursday through Saturday, Eastern Illinois University in Charleston Class 1A competitors have their preliminary heats and flights Thursday afternoon. Classes 2A and 3A preliminaries are Friday. Finals for all three classes will be Saturday at EIU’s O’Brien Stadium. Boys IHSA Class 1A Rockford Christian Sectional Friday at Rockford Local teams competing: Alden-Hebron, Harvard. IHSA Class 2A Grayslake North Sectional 4 p.m. Friday, at Grayslake Local teams competing: Crystal Lake Central, Johnsburg, Marengo, Marian Central, Richmond-Burton, Woodstock and Woodstock North. IHSA Class 2A Rochelle Sectional 4 p.m. Thursday, at Rochelle Local team competing: Hampshire. IHSA Class 3A Guilford Sectional Friday, at Rockford Local teams competing: Cary-Grove, Crystal Lake South, Dundee-Crown, Huntley, Jacobs, McHenry and Prairie Ridge. |
