


Efflandt reaches 200 K’s; C-G shuts out CL SouthCARY – With her sixth strikeout Monday, Cary-Grove sophomore pitcher Lindsay Efflandt reached 200 for the season, leading the Trojans to a 3-0 Fox Valley Conference Valley Division victory against Crystal Lake South. With that milestone already in the books, Efflandt (21-1) is on pace to surpass her strikeout total from last season (209) in eight fewer starts. “She has really improved as a pitcher from last year to this year,” Trojans coach Tammy Olson said. “She’s more consistent with batters one through nine, and in her determination to give her best pitches when she needs to, especially when we’re in a jam.” Efflandt allowed four hits and issued a walk in a complete game against South (13-10, 6-8). Freshman Lisa Semro and senior Emma Gaulke drove in runs for C-G (23-1, 13-0 FVC Valley). South pitcher Hannah Mahoney went 2 for 3 at the plate. Huntley 11, Dundee-Crown 0 (5 inn.): At Carpentersville, Brittany Koss drove in three runs for the Red Raiders (14-14, 8-5) with an inside-the-park home run, supporting winning pitcher Taylor Larson in FVC Valley play. Melany Love took the loss for D-C (2-20, 1-14). Jacobs 6, McHenry 1: At Algonquin, Marissa Lombardo had eight strikeouts in the complete-game, FVC Valley victory for the Golden Eagles (16-10, 9-4) over the Warriors (6-11, 4-9). Jackie Hengler (1 for 3) doubled to drive in two runs for Jacobs. CL Central 15, Woodstock North 1: At Woodstock, Jackie Kisman struck out 10 and issued one walk en route to an FVC Fox Division win for the Tigers (19-7, 12-3 FVC). Brittany York drove in five runs on two home runs and two singles. Kendyl Schwebke took the loss for the Knights (5-17, 3-12). Alden-Hebron 8, Woodstock 1: At Woodstock, Hayli Lagerhausen gave up one run in seven innings, struck out 14 and hit a double to lead the Giants (19-7) in the non-conference win. Taylor Hack (1 for 3) scored two runs and stole a base for Alden-Hebron. Richmond-Burton 5, Sycamore 1: At Richmond, Lily Mazzanti pitched a complete game with two strikeouts, Haylea Hoskins went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, and the Rockets (10-11) beat the Spartans in a non-conference game. Riley Stanton (2 for 2) and Alex Steinberg (3 for 3) were perfect at the plate and each drove in a run for R-B. Aurora Central Catholic 6, Marian Central 3: At Aurora, Courtney Einecker took the loss for the Hurricanes (6-15, 3-7) in the SCC Blue Division matchup.
Class 2A Harvard Regional: At Harvard, T.J. Stevens pitched a complete game and struck out two for fourth-seeded Harvard in an 11-3 victory against Rockford Christian Life. Collin Nolen hit a double and a triple, drove in a run and scored two runs, and Austin Bielski went 2 for 4 and drove in a run to lead Harvard (8-19), which faces top-seeded Rockford Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in a semifinal. Class 1A Freeport Aquin Regional: At Hebron, Connor Schroeder had eight strikeouts in four innings as third-seeded Alden-Hebron defeated No. 6 South Beloit, 10-5, in a play-in game. The Giants (16-11) advance to Thursday’s semifinal game against No. 2 Orangeville. Prairie Ridge 10, CL South 7: At Crystal Lake, Alex Senyshyn drove in three runs for Prairie Ridge (11-19, 9-11 FVC Fox), supporting pitcher Zack Coel (4-3) for the FVC win. Max Meitzler doubled for the Gators (17-9, 13-8 FVC Valley), scoring two runs. CL Central 10, Woodstock North 0 (5 inn.): At Woodstock, sophomore Jacob Roley (1-0) allowed one hit in his first start for the Tigers (12-18, 8-11) in an FVC Fox win. James Quick (2-5) took the loss for the Thunder (5-18, 1-17). Grayslake North 5, Johnsburg 3: At Grayslake, the Skyhawks (6-20, 3-15) tallied five hits in their FVC Fox loss. Kyle Fosco (3-4) picked up the win for Grayslake North (10-17, 9-12). Dundee-Crown 4, Huntley 1: At Carpentersville, Jake Staab (6-2) limited D-C’s powerful offense to one earned run in six innings but took the FVC Valley loss for the Red Raiders (19-8, 14-6). Jake Romano went 2 for 3 with a triple, driving in three runs for the Chargers (19-12, 16-7). Grayslake Central 6, Jacobs 2: At Grayslake, Dylan O’Toole and Connor Conzelman drove in runs for Jacobs (11-17, 9-11 FVC Valley) in the FVC loss. Cary-Grove 20, Woodstock 3: At Cary, Christopher Leach picked up the FVC win for C-G (21-8, 17-5 FVC Valley) with run support from Matt Panek, who went 4 for 5 with six RBIs and a home run in an FVC win. The Blue Streaks (7-20, 5-15 FVC Fox) got solo home runs from Eric Debray and Joe Hunt. North Boone 6, Marengo 1: At Marengo, mustering three hits and scoring Colin Stewart on a fielder’s choice, the Indians (3-24, 1-7 BNC) took the BNC East Division loss. Grayslake Central 6, Jacobs 2: At Grayslake, Connor Conzelman went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI for the Golden Eagles (11-17, 9-11 FVC Valley) in the FVC loss. McHenry 10, Mundelein 4: At Mundelein, Pat Murphy and Pat Maher each went 2 for 3 and hit a double for the Warriors (22-8) in the non-conference win.
