


CL Central edges out Cary-GroveCRYSTAL LAKE – Junior Jenna Wallace won at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-0, on Tuesday as Crystal Lake Central edged Cary-Grove, 4-3, in girls tennis. The Trojans split the doubles matches with Central behind wins at No. 3 from Emily Scott and Jeni Maki and No. 4 from Kortney Koerke and Alyssa Derer. Sophomores Jillian Wallace and Evelyn Youel won at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), to close out the Fox Valley Conference crossover win for the Tigers. Prairie Ridge 6, Johnsburg 1: At Johnsburg, Stacey West and Ally Chronin won at No. 4 doubles, 3-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-0, for the Skyhawks (0-1), but Hannah Gummerson, Natalia Favia and Callie Schmit swept the singles matches in an FVC crossover win for the Wolves (1-0). CL South 4, Jacobs 3: At Crystal Lake, Marisa Thome, Julia Thome and Kim Goodwin swept singles for the Gators (1-0) in their FVC crossover win, but Jacobs took three doubles matches, led by Kassy Bernardo and Megan Elliot’s 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Huntley 7, Woodstock 0: At Woodstock, Kayla Garcia won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and Jessica Chalas won at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-2, as the Red Raiders (3-1) swept Woodstock for the FVC crossover win. Marian Central 4, Marengo 1: At Woodstock, senior Annie Wember won at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-4, as the Hurricanes picked up a non-conference win. Girls Golf Rock Falls 209, Winnebago 222, Harvard 272: At Westlake Village in Rock Falls, Kaitlyn Harvey shot a 62 and Abby Linhart shot a 63 for the Hornets in a Big Northern Conference loss. Marengo 230, Stillman Valley 236: At Prairieview in Byron, Danielle Tucker medaled with a 51 and Megan Reddersdorf shot a 54 to lead the Indians past Stillman Valley. Johnsburg 236, Marian Central 244: At Boone Creek in Bull Valley, Andrea Lindal turned in the low score with a 51 for the Skyhawks and Kenzie Mocogni shot a 53 for Marian Central in Johnsburg’s non-conference win. Girls Volleyball Huntley 2, Rosary 1: At Huntley, Sam Boesch knocked down 16 kills and Amy Dion notched 23 digs as the Red Raiders earned the non-conference win, 19-25, 25-15, 25-15.
