Huntley tops CLC behind 2 hat tricks

HUNTLEY – Huntley’s boys soccer team doubled up on hat tricks Thursday as Danny Diaz de Leon and Lucas Baker scored three goals apiece to lead the Red Raiders in an 8-0 Fox Valley Conference crossover win against Crystal Lake Central.

Sophomore Austen Emery made three saves and Jeffrey Husak added two for the Red Raiders (6-2-2), who had 29 shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Sebastian Gonzalez made eight saves for the Tigers (0-10).

Cary-Grove 3 Johnsburg 0: At Cary, Drew Conner scored two goals and Nolan Walsh chipped in another for Cary-Grove as the Trojans (7-1) defeated Johnsburg (3-5) in an FVC crossover win.

Prairie Ridge 5, Woodstock North 1: At Crystal Lake, Jordan Oates scored two goals and Thomas Kojs, Kurtis Stephan and Nick Woodbury each added a goal to lead the Wolves (3-4-1) in the FVC crossover win.

Victor Ovalle scored for Woodstock North (3-6-2).

CL South 3, Grayslake North 2: At Crystal Lake, Charlie Oliver scored his 16th and 17th goals of the season to lead the Gators in an FVC crossover win. Goalkeeper Steven Follmer made three saves for the Gators (6-4).

McHenry 3, Woodstock 1: At McHenry, Carlos Wence, Dylan Clohessy and Marco Tello each scored for McHenry in its FVC crossover win. Frank Valle made nine saves for the Warriors (7-1).

Alex Esparza scored and Brad Lorr made five saves for Woodstock (3-6-2).

Marian Central 9, Guerin Prep 0: At Woodstock, Mike Dougherty, Charles Shin and Troy Higgins each scored twice to lead Marian Central in the Suburban Christian Conference win. Austin Sierakowski, Mike Pierce and Andrew Mark each added a goal for the Hurricanes (3-5-3, 3-1 SCC), as well.

Jacobs 3, Hampshire 1: At Algonquin, Mario Rako made two goals to lead Jacobs in the FVC crossover win. Nick Matysek had nine saves for the Golden Eagles (7-3).

Jared Butler scored for Hampshire (2-8).

Harvard 2, Marengo 2: At Marengo, senior Luis Romero scored two goals for Marengo (5-4-3, 1-0-3) in the BNC East Division draw.

Evan Grieshop made three saves for Harvard (9-4-2, 2-1-1).

GOLF

Dundee-Crown 154, Jacobs 155: At Bonnie Dundee in Carpentersville, Jacobs’ Jack Ramsett and Cam Bodie tied Dundee-Crown’s Anthony Cardelli and James Rudolph at 2-over-par 38 to split medalist honors four ways, as the Chargers won the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division match by a stroke.

Richmond-Burton 171, Harvard 210: At Plum Tree in Harvard, Jordan Hahn shot a 2-over-par 38 to lead Richmond-Burton in the Big Northern Conference win.

Brandon Schmitt led Harvard with a 51.

Marengo 173, Rock Falls 177: At Marengo Ridge, Hunter Simonini shot a 3-over-par 39 to earn medalist honors and lead Marengo (10-6, 6-3 BNC) in the BNC win.

CL Central 155, Hampshire 179: At Turnberry in Lakewood, James Perrone finished with an even-par 36 to earn medalist honors and lead Crystal Lake Central (6-1, 4-0 FVC Fox) in the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division win.

Jeremy Yoder shot a 41 to lead Hampshire (4-6, 2-1 FVC Valley).

Woodstock 177, Grayslake Central 189: At Plum Tree in Harvard, Tyler Cundiff shot a 6-over-par 42 to pick up medalist honors and lead Woodstock (3-5) in the win.

Johnsburg 169, Grayslake North 173: At Renwood in Round Lake Beach, Colin Goulet shot a 2-over-par 38 to pick up medalist honors and lead Johnsburg in the FVC Fox win. Alec Brown shot a 40 for the Skyhawks (4-8, 1-3 FVC Fox).

Cary-Grove 158, Huntley 159: At Pinecrest in Huntley, Jarrett and Justin Kinney finished with a 2-over-par 38 and a 3-over-par 39, respectively, to lead Cary-Grove in the FVC Valley Division win. Daniel DePrey shot a 40 for the Trojans, who are 3-1 in the FVC Valley.

Trent Craig shot a 1-over 37 to earn medalist honors for Huntley, which is 2-1 in the FVC Valley.
