Woodstock tops R-B in boys soccer

RICHMOND – Wyatt Meyer scored a first-half goal Friday, and Woodstock held on to defeat Richmond-Burton, 1-0, in boys soccer at the R-B Tournament.

Meyer scored on an assist from Ian Ordonez.

Blue Streaks coach Mike Golda said his team was playing scrappy defense but was having trouble capitalizing on the offensive end. The Streaks outshot the Rockets, 12-1, in the first half.

Brad Lorr made five saves for Woodstock (5-7-2).

The Rockets (2-8-1) also tied Belvidere, 2-2, behind goals from Zack Cemail and Joey Sanborn.

Also in the tournament, Johnsburg scored two first-half goals but could not make a 2-1 halftime lead stand in a 3-2 loss to Round Lake. Alex Jansen and Daniel Landon scored for the Skyhawks (5-6).

Lakes 1, Cary-Grove 0: At Mundelein, Tom Breen made two saves for the Trojans (8-2) in a loss at the Carmel Quadrangular.


GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Cary-Grove 2, Lake Zurich 0: At Cary, Ashley Rosch had eight kills to lead the Trojans to a 25-12, 25-16 non-conference win.

Also for C-G (16-1), Nicole Schuh had 12 digs and Jess Bartczyszyn had 17 assists.
