Sanders helps D-C girls basketball team edge PR

CRYSTAL LAKE – Ali Sanders tossed in 22 points and Dundee-Crown defeated Prairie Ridge, 45-43, in a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division girls basketball game Tuesday night.

D-C (5-4 overall, 3-0 FVC Valley) got 14 points from Sanders in the first quarter. Diamond Williams added 13 for the Chargers.

Haleigh Danek scored 14 to lead the Wolves (4-7, 0-3). Sarah LeBeau added 11 for Prairie Ridge.

Marengo 46, Harvard 20: At Marengo, the host Indians exploded to a 33-0 lead at the half en route to the Big Northern Conference East Division victory.

Molly Richardson (12 points) and Kourtney Heitz (10 points) scored in double figures for Marengo (7-2). Randi Blazier led the Hornets (0-9) with five points.

Grayslake North 54, Johnsburg 51: At Johnsburg, Stephanie Cherwin led the Skyhawks (3-8, 1-2 FVC Fox) with 20 points, and Ashley Schuld added 11 points in an FVC Fox Division loss.

Cary-Grove 49, Buffalo Grove 41 (OT): At Buffalo Grove, Olivia Jakubicek led the way with 19 points as the Trojans outlasted the Bison in overtime for the non-conference win.

Paige Lincicum contributed 12 points for C-G (7-3).

Alden-Hebron 45, Williams Bay (Wis.) 31: At Williams Bay, Wis., Carissa Stauss scored 13 points and Sam Beck chipped in with 10 points to lead the Giants (2-4) past host Williams Bay in nonconference action.

Wilmot (Wis.) 62, Richmond-Burton 33: At Richmond, Erin Thomas poured in a game-high 21 points for the Rockets (7-3) in a non-conference loss.

Boys Basketball

Barrington 61, Jacobs 40: At Barrington, Patrick Nerja led the Golden Eagles (1-3) with 10 points in a nonconference loss.

Boys Swimming

Cary-Grove 118, Hoffman Estates 62: At Hoffman Estates, Adam Eibel won the 200-meter individual medley (2:31.26) for the Trojans in a nonconference win.

Hockey

New Trier Green 4, Prairie Ridge 3: At Wilmette, the Trevians scored three goals in the second period to defeat the Wolves in their High School Invitational Tournament game.

The Trevians were ranked No. 1 in Illinois by hockey website myhockeyrankings.com.

Gavin Tarazi, Christian Blatner and Seamus Kelly scored goals for the Wolves, who are 18-9-4.
