In the championship match, Synon defeated Belvidere North’s Erik Nord, 1-0. Nord is ranked No. 4 at 126 in Class 2A by illinoismatmen.com. Noteworthy Mudge Tournament details: Crystal Lake Central took third and won three individual championships Saturday at the 52nd Dick Mudge Memorial Tournament at Prospect. In an all-area final, the Tigers’ Clay Lutzow defeated McHenry’s Wade Lardy, 5-4, to win at 138. Lardy is ranked sixth in Class 3A at 145. Lutzow pinned his other two opponents. Jason Fugiel won for Central at 152, defeating Barrington’s Nick Shealy by technical fall, 42 seconds into the third period in the championship match. Gage Harrah continued his streak of spending little time on the mat to give the Tiger’s their third championship. Harrah pinned York’s Noah Fleckenstein in 27 seconds in the finals. In his three matches, Harrah spent 57 seconds wrestling. Also at Prospect, McHenry took fifth and came away with four second-place finishes. Brothers Britches and Mike Sikula finished second at 106 and 113, respectively, to top-ranked Barrington wrestlers. Britches Sikula was pinned by Adrian Gonzalez, and Mike Sikula was pinned by Jared Parvinmehr. Both of the Broncos are ranked No. 1 at their weights in Class 3A. At 120, the Warriors’ Brad Ostdick lost an 11-8 decision to Moline’s Christian Smith in the finals.

John Sciacca-Richard Holtfreter Tournament at Harvard 4:30 a.m. Friday, 9 a.m. Saturday Huntley, Johnsburg and Woodstock compete at the Hornet’s 45th annual tournament.
