Dundee-Crown girls edge Jacobs

ALGONQUIN – In a girls basketball game that was much closer than the Fox Valley Conference standings, Dundee-Crown held on to defeat Jacobs, 42-40, on Tuesday.

Ali Sanders led the Chargers (13-7 overall, 6-1 FVC Valley), scoring more than half their points with 22. Carlin Faulkner added six for D-C.

Jacobs trailed by three heading into the fourth quarter but managed to outscore the Chargers by only one in the quarter. Lauren Grady led the Golden Eagles (4-16, 1-6) with 16 points and Jennifer Barnec had 10.

Cary-Grove 40, Prairie Ridge 28: At Crystal Lake, Olivia Jakubicek scored 17 points and added eight rebounds and five steals to lead the Trojans (12-6, 6-1 FVC Valley) in an FVC Valley Division win.

Haleigh Danek scored 10 for the Wolves (10-9, 2-6).

Woodstock North 51, Grayslake North 45: At Grayslake, Haylee Nutter scored 24 points and shot 10 of 10 from the foul line to lead the Thunder to an FVC Fox Division win against the Knights (14-5, 5-2 FVC Fox).

Also for Woodstock North (12-9, 3-4), Emma Everly scored 14 points and hit four three-pointers.

Guerin 47, Marian Central 36: At Woodstock, Shannon Wuench scored 14 points for the Hurricanes (9-9, 2-4) in a Suburban Christian Conference Gold Division loss.

Rockford Christian 51, Alden-Hebron 27: At Hebron, Brooklyn Hilton scored nine points in a Northeastern Athletic Conference loss for the Giants (7-9, 1-3 NAC).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Marian Central 60, Guerin 43: At River Grove, Ian Maxeiner scored 12 points and was 6 of 6 from the foul line to lead the Hurricanes to their first Suburban Christian Conference Blue Division win of the season. Also for Marian (2-16, 1-6 SCC Blue), Zach Ricchiuto scored eight points.

WRESTLING

Marengo 53, Aurora Central Catholic 24: At Marengo, Damon Cloe won by technical fall (18-3) at 152 pounds for the Indians in a non-conference win. Also for Marengo, Justin Dauphin (145), Jon Goerke (160), Mark Hendricks (182), Abe LaMontagne (195) and John Lesiak (220) recorded pins.

GIRLS BOWLING

Marengo 3,129, Rockford Lutheran 2,315: At Glo-Bowl in Marengo, Becca Czlapinski rolled a 580 series to lead the Indians. Krystal Alt had a match high 217 in the first game for Marengo.

BOYS BOWLING

Huntley 3,300, Marengo 3,068: At Bowl Hi in Huntley, Nick Nitti and Spencer Gardner each bowled 685 series to lead the Red Raiders and Max Barren had a 278 in the third game.

Jason Muller rolled a 666 series for the Indians.
