MUNDELEIN – After a sluggish first quarter, the Prairie Ridge girls basketball team responded Monday in its season opener.
The Wolves (1-0) scored 22 points in the second quarter in their 49-48 win over Carmel at the Mundelein Tournament. Prairie Ridge went into half down one but earned the victory by holding the Corsairs to two points in the third quarter.
“We came out a little nervous,” Wolves coach Rob Baker said. “But the kids continued to play hard.”
Marisa Gerstbrein led the Wolves with 17 points, with Alex Neckopulos adding 11.
Prairie Ridge faces Grant at 6 p.m. today.

Woodstock co-op 2,692, Fenton 2,217: At Wood Dale Bowl in Wood Dale, Ezra Vosburgh led Woodstock with a 606 series, including a 224 game, with Zach Myer adding a 583 series.
