VERNON HILLS – After being down eight points at halftime, the Woodstock North girls basketball team put up 21 points in the third quarter to win, 43-32, over Lake Forest on Monday in the Cougar Classic.
Sami Ahr led the Thunder (2-2) with 15 points, including seven in the third quarter, with Emma Evelry scoring nine and Aleecia Braun adding six, all in the second half.
The Thunder face Lake Forest Academy at 6 p.m. today in the tournament.
Dundee-Crown Tournament: Huntley had three players score in double digits in its 56-34 win over South Elgin.
Ali Andrews led the Red Raiders (4-1) with 21 points, Sam Andrews had 14 and Haley Ream added 11.
Lakes 53, Johnsburg 35: At Johnsburg, Trace Chase scored six points to lead the Skyhawks (0-4) in a nonconference loss.
Rockford Lutheran 61, Harvard 16: At Harvard, the Hornets (2-3) fell in a Big Northern Conference crossover.
Hoops for Healing Tournament: At Woodstock, Woodstock won its first game of the season, defeating Round Lake, 61-39. The Blue Streaks (1-0) jumped out to a 42-16 lead at half, with Andy Buhrow scoring all of his 11 points in the first half. Jordan Turner led Woodstock with 14 points.
McHenry 3,043, Woodstock 2,637: At Wayne’s Lanes in Woodstock, Kody Hudjera led the Warriors with a 680 series and a high game of 248. Tyler Stasinopoulos led Woodstock with a 557 series, and Zacy Myer had a high game of 196.
Johnsburg 2,6-5, Westminster 2,014: At Elgin Lanes in Elgin, Jeff Straulin led the Skyhawks with a 569 series, including a 207 game.
Westminster 1,842, Johnsburg 1,810: At Elgin Lanes in Elgin, Kaitlyn Straulin had a 409 series to lead the Skyhawks, with Amanda Cherwin adding a 402 series.
