BATAVIA – The Crystal Lake South boys basketball team got its first win for new coach Matt LePage, defeating Kaneland, 66-55, on Friday in the Windmill City Classic.
Nick Geske led the Gators with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Also in double figures for South were Austin Rogers (12), Max Meitzler (10) and Alex Bartusch (10).
The strength of his team, LePage said, is the ability to get scoring out of his whole lineup.
“Every night I think that anyone who steps on the court is capable of scoring,” LePage said. “We have a real balanced attack.”
Also for the Gators, Nick Schiller had eight points.
Westminster Tournament: At Elgin, Bryce Lalor and Ian Johnson each scored 10 points to lead Alden-Hebron in a
45-39, loss to Luther North.
Quincy Tournament: Will Schwerdtmann scored 13 points to lead Jacobs in a 66-51 loss to Carbondale.
Johnsburg Thanksgiving Tournament: At Richmond, Brian Wells scored 13 points, including two 3-pointers, for Richmond-Burton in a 53-50 loss to Wauconda.
Quincy Tournament: Jacobs ran into some stiff competition and lost three games.
The Golden Eagles lost 56-47 to host Quincy, 53-32 to East St. Louis and 52-15 to Metro.
Tori Tamburrino led Jacobs (0-4) with 25 points in the three games.
