BUFFALO GROVE – Dundee-Crown’s wrestling team rolled to three wins Saturday at the Buffalo Grove Triangular.
The Chargers swept Lake Forest, 72-0, and defeated Buffalo Grove, 39-25, and Niles North, 42-30.
Freshman Christian Brunner (132 pounds) went 3-0 with two pins, and junior Jequan Flynn (126), junior Tim Shanmier (160), sophomore Kevin Novotny (195) and junior Jeremy Marshall (285) also went undefeated on the day with a pin apiece.
McHenry Quadrangular: At McHenry, the hosts defeated Plano, 32-29, Mundelein, 50-6 and York, 65-7. Angel Hernandez (285) posted three pins, and Wade Lardy (145), Cam Pait (160), Pat Roewer (170) and Luke Krauser (195) each went undefeated on the day for the Warriors (4-0).
Harvard Quadrangular: At Harvard, the host Hornets got past Plano, 39-30, and Dakota, 34-33. Reiss Bielski (106) had two pins, and Irvin Pena (126), Travis Heck (170), Zack Martin (195) and Adam Freimund (285) each scored a pin for the Hornets (2-1).
Woodstock North fell to Plano, 62-12, and Dakota, 63-21. Nick Fiorito (113), Derek Doyen (120), Ben Brucki (126) and Dillon Kline (170) logged pins for the Thunder.
Jacobs Mega Duels: At Algonquin, Huntley defeated all of its opponents: Oswego East, Hampshire, Richards, Riverside-Brookfield and Dixon. Zach Stenger (113), Brandon Meyer (126) and Chris Gamboa (130) went 5-0, and Nick Meyer (106), Ricky Virgil (120) and Brandon Mabry (195) went 4-0 on the day for the Red Raiders.
Conant Tournament: At Hoffman Estates, four Crystal Lake Central wrestlers were place-winners in the 21-team event, led by Andrew Marsden’s first-place finish at 170 pounds. The Tigers’ Kyle Fugiel (145) and Romeo McKnight (195) finished third, and Michael Peterson (126) took sixth.
Several Central wrestlers who joined the team only recently after the completion of the football season were held out of the tournament.
Quincy Tournament: At Quincy, Jacobs lost to Quincy, 51-25. Nick Ledinky scored a team-high eight points for the Golden Eagles (0-3).
Johnsburg Thanksgiving Tournament: At Johnsburg, Jefferson took down Johnsburg, 48-44, in the tournament final. T.J. Sigmund scored a game-high 16 points on seven buckets, and Colin Ridout added eight points for the Skyhawks (2-1).
Ridout and Sigmund both were selected to the all-tournament team, and Jefferson’s Antonie Jefferson was selected as the tournament MVP.
Harlem defeated Richmond-Burton, 55-47, in the seventh-place game. Sam Kaufman’s 15 points with a trio of three-pointers led six scorers for the Rockets (0-4).
Westminster Christian Tournament: At Elgin, Alden-Hebron defeated Faith Lutheran, 64-45.
Quincy Tournament: At Quincy, Kelly Grady led six Jacobs scorers with eight points, but the Golden Eagles (0-5) lost to Metro, 28-23.
Torrie Tambourino was selected to the all-tournament first team, and Payton Berg made the second team.
