MARENGO – McHenry bowler Kody Hudjera bowled a 300 in the second game of the Warriors’ 3,087-2,864 win over Marengo at Glo Bowl.
It was the junior’s first perfect game of his career.
“We had some guys take a [perfect game] into the 10th frame against Huntley, but lost it,” said McHenry coach Kyle Funkhouser, whose Warriors improved to 8-1. “So, at first, everyone kind of wanted to keep their distance and didn’t want to jinx it, but as it went on, the crowd gathered more and more.
“His mom was there to witness it, which was a pretty cool thing for him.”
Hudjera came into the meet against Marengo with a 203 average.
Johnsburg 2,941, Huntley 2,709: At Raymond’s Bowl in Johnsburg, Jeff Straulin bowled a 258 and led the way for the Skyhawks as he had a meet-high 657 series while teammate Brian Legnaiolo rolled a 603 series.
Bear Rehner bowled the only 600 series for the Red Raiders with a 616 powered by a high game of 235.
Dundee-Crown 59, Larkin 28: At Carpentersville, Jillian Weichmann scored 20 points to lead the Chargers (1-10), with Frankie Cavallaro adding 11 in a nonconference win.
Rockford Christian 40, Marengo 20: At Marengo, Taylor Carlson scored eight points to lead the Indians (5-9) in a Big Northern Conference crossover loss.
Johnsburg 2,120, Round Lake 2,098: At Raymond’s Bowl in Johnsburg, the Skyhawks won by 22 pins behind Kaitlyn Straulin’s 536 series, which was the highest of the contest. She bowled a high game of 192, which led Johnsburg.
Erika Lara (466) and Amanda Cherwin (433) each bowled 400 series for the Skyhawks.
Cary-Grove 108, Jacobs 62: At Cary, Tyler King won the 50-yard freestyle (22.38) by more than a second and the 100 freestlye (49.1) by nearly four seconds for the Trojans. Meanwhile, Michael Hammann won both of his individual events in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly. The pair also was a part of two winning relays.
Distance swimmer Alex Reinbrecht won the 200 freestyle (1:52.49) and the 500 freestyle (5:01). Jacobs also won the final event, the 400 freestyle relay.
