MARENGO – Woodstock handled Anitoch easily Friday at the E.C. Nichols Basketball Tournament at Marengo High School.
In a game that was sloppy and physical, Woodstock won 51-30 thanks to 18 points from senior Jordan Turner.
There were a handful of hard fouls and tense moments during the game, but Woodstock Head Coach Alex Baker said he was proud of his team's composure.
“Antioch plays pretty tough,” he said. “They're pretty physical. We knew that going in. Right off the bat I think it caught us a little off guard. But I thought we did a good job with that. Our guys policed themselves pretty well.”
Woodstock had a strong defensive effort Friday, allowing Antioch to score just three points in the second quarter. Woodstock clearly had the advantage in size and athleticism and will move on to play Saturday at 4:30.
