Shane Evans, Prairie Ridge's 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman, will visit the University of Illinois this weekend.

Evans took part in Iowa's junior days last weekend. He also has plans to travel to Minnesota in coming weeks, Evans said Tuesday night.

Evans already has a scholarship offer from Northern Illinois but said the Big Ten's physical style of play suits him well. Evans has also drawn recruiting interest from Wisconsin, Nebraska, Northwestern and Michigan State, according to Rivals.com

He hopes to have a decision made before his senior year so he can focus on his final high school season and on getting bigger in preparation to play at the Division I level.

"Just the reputation all those (Big Ten) programs have of getting their guys to the next level is fantastic," Evans said. "That's the goal of any college player is to get to that next level and I'm always pushing myself to do better and so I can succeed in college and get to the NFL.

"These Big Ten programs really do a great job of making that happen."
