Amanze Egekeze
Huntley, jr.

Egekeze, a 6-foot-7 forward, helped the Red Raiders to victories over Jacobs and Cary-Grove for their third consecutive Fox Valley Conference Valley Division title.

The Raiders’ NCAA Division I recruit scored all nine of his points in the second half of a 54-26 win against Jacobs on Tuesday. He also had game-highs of nine rebounds and five blocked shots. Four of those blocks came in the third quarter. Egekeze scored 24 points on Friday to lead Huntley past C-G, 42-27. He was 7 of 7 on free throws in that game.

Egekeze has offers from DePaul, Indiana State, Loyola, Toledo and Wright State. Dartmouth of the Ivy League, which does not give athletic scholarships, also is interested.

Placement games:
Here is what is known about Friday’s FVC crossover placement games: Huntley will be first in the FVC Valley, while in the Fox, Woodstock will be third, Johnsburg will be fourth and Grayslake Central will be seventh.

After that, there still is plenty to be decided in today’s last round of division games. If Fox co-leaders Crystal Lake Central and Hampshire win, Central plays at Huntley on Friday in the battle of first-place teams because the Tigers beat Hampshire twice.

If Prairie Ridge and Crystal Lake South, tied for fourth in the Valley, both win, Prairie Ridge gets the fourth-place slot because it beat South twice.

McHenry assistant athletic director Barry Burmeister said in the case of ties where the teams split their division games, a coin flip would decide which team received the higher place for Friday’s games. However, if two teams had played previously in a crossover, he might arrange it so teams that had not played this season would face one another.

Johnsburg vs. Crystal Lake Central

Central needs a victory for at least a share of the FVC Fox Division title. The Tigers had a tough week with two trips to Grayslake. They lost to last-place Grayslake Central on Tuesday, then needed a last-minute basket from Brad Knoeppel on Friday to edge Grayslake North, 55-54.
Woodstock North vs. Hampshire
7 p.m. today, at Hampshire
Hampshire is tied with Crystal Lake Central with one remaining division game.
