Roundup: Sara Mickow's double-double helps CL South beat D-C

Senior Sara Mickow had 27 points and 22 rebounds Friday to lead the Crystal Lake South girls basketball team to a 68-51 win over Dundee-Crown in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division play in Crystal Lake.

The score was tied at 24 at the half before the Gators (12-7 overall, 4-2 FVC Valley) began to pull away.

Chanel Fanter was next for the Gators with 12 points. She also had five assists.

Emily Michalski led the Chargers with 12 points, and Kagan Faulkner and Lauren Lococo added 10.

CL Central 46, Hampshire 31: At Hampshire, the Tigers won in FVC Fox Division play. Crystal Lake Central took control in the second quarter by outscoring Hampshire 21-4. Kelsey Schmitt led the Tigers with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Evelyn Youel added nine.

The Whip-Purs were led by Emma Benoit with nine points. Tricia Dumoulin added eight.

Alden-Hebron 61, Christian Liberty 41: At Hebron, the Giants (8-7, 3-4 NAC) outscored Christian Liberty, 15-4, in the second quarter to take control in the Northeastern Athletic Conference win. Brooklyn Hilton led the Giants with 14 points, and Jacqueline Walters added 13.

Wheaton Academy 52, Marian Central 37: At West Chicago, the Hurricanes (9-6, 3-3 SCC) lost the SCC game after being outscored 16-1 in the fourth quarter. Sarah Benigni led Marian with 22 points, and Hannah Davis added seven.


Harvard 54, South Beloit 37: At South Beloit, the Hornets won for the fourth time in a row in the nonconference game. Fernando Carrera led Harvard with 19 points, including three 3-pointers. Tate Miller was second on the Hornets with 18 points, and Justin Nolen added 9.

Christian Liberty 64, Alden-Hebron 42: At Hebron, the Giants (2-13, 0-5 NAC) lost in NAC play. Jacob Heaver and Trevor Ball led the Giants with 13 points each.


Woodstock North Duals: The host Thunder lost to Marengo, 58-18, and Richmond-Burton, 31-6. Cody Barnes (220 pounds) went 2-0 on the day for Woodstock North, including a pin in 4:23 against Marengo.

Marengo got wins from Joesph Mier (138) in a 9-1 major decision and a Kyle Gara (160) pin in 4:37.

The Rockets were led by a pinfall win by Garrett Sutton (160) and a 10-7 decision by Jake Holian.

Woodstock 48, Genoa-Kingston 27: At Woodstock, the Blue Streaks won the nonconference meet. Woodstock got pinfall wins from Anthony Sanders (126) and James Sullivan (152).
