Drama in the Valley

The Rant is startin’ to like the drama that’s playin’ out in the FVC Valley Division in boys hoops.

Mac Town handed CL South its first loss in the division on Tuesday after a huge third quarter put them up for good. That win means the Warriors, Gators and the C-G Trojans now are all tied for first place in the division with one loss each, but The Grove is one game back in the win column.

The Grove stayed in the hunt with a one-point, come-from-behind win over Huntley on Tuesday. They have that big win over McHenry and now Huntley for a little momentum.

The Red Raiders dug a hole for themselves after losin’ to the three teams ahead of them in the standin’s in their last four games. The Rant thinks they might come back and end up playin’ the spoiler role before it’s all over. They’ll be facin’ South again on Feb. 3.

It’s time for all of our local teams to develop some mental toughness, and The Rant thinks by now they should all have the fundamentals down, although watchin’ these games makes The Rant  wonder sometimes.

The Rant says the team that gets tough mentally and can take care of the ball will win it all.
