Trojans in charge
The Rant was more than a little psyched that there were several basketball games this weekend with a championship flavor.
The Grove had a big second half at Mac Town and came from behind to beat the Warriors and take sole possession of first place in the FVC Valley Division. The Trojans beat CL South earlier in the week and now have beaten the Warriors twice in division play.
The Rant has to give it up for the student cheering section at McHenry for givin’ the game plenty of atmosphere and cheerin’ on their team. The players play with a lot of emotion for the Warriors and feed off the crowd, but ya have to be careful to not get too pumped up early in the game.
The Trojans defense really played well in the second half, and they started getting more inside points while takin’ away a lot of the inside game of the Warriors that had helped them to a big first half.
The Gators didn’t help themselves out much by losing to Jacobs on Friday night, but the Trojans sure are sittin’ pretty.

Out in Johnsburg, the Skyhawks were without their leader on the floor – point guard Mike Dixon – and they played like it. They tied the game once, but it seemed like Grayslake Central was pretty much in charge throughout.
The Rams will go on to win the FVC Fox Division, as they now have beaten The Burg twice, handin’ the ’Hawks their only two losses of the season.
The most memorable part of the game for the Burgers? This shot from C.J. Fiedorowicz from three-quarter court as time expired at the end of the third period. Ol' Rant stood up and applauded when he saw this one.

The Rant is wonderin’ what happened to Huntley after they lost to Dundee-Crown?

Woodstock New overcame a eight point deficit to beat its cross-town rival, Woodstock Old.

In girls hoops, The Shire beat Marengo and finishes division play unbeaten. The Whip-Purs win the BNC East Division goin’ away.
