Division races endin'

The Rant would like to congratulate all of our local basketball division winners after division play ended Friday night.

The Grove beat Huntley and finish two games ahead of CL South and Mac Town for the FVC Valley Division championship, after the Gators beat the Warriors at home Friday night.

Grayslake Old already had the FVC Fox Division wrapped up after beatin’ The Burg twice this season, and they finish division play unbeaten.

Richmond-Burton wins the BNC East Division and The Rant thinks they did it rather easily. The Rockets finished division play with close call against Harvard.

Marian Central finishes SCC Blue Division play on Saturday against Chicago Christian and they need to win, while the Hurricanes need Marmion to beat St. Francis, and all three teams would tie for first in the division.

There’s lots of news comin’ out of Jacobs today. The Golden Eagles hired a new football coach and The Rant is likin’ what he sees.

Bill Mitz will steer the ship over at Jacobs after just retiring from Stevenson High School where he was a P.E. teacher and their football coach for the past 28 seasons. This looks like a great get for the Eagles who could use a shot in the arm after some pretty tough seasons of late.

What do you think of Jacobs new coach?

More news out of Jacobs, girls basketball coach Ed Haugens is steppin’ down as the coach one day after the Eagles lost to Hononegah in the McHenry Regional title game. The Rant would like to wish him luck because not only is he a good coach he’s a class act.
