Prairie Ridge's Simons earns elite honor

Prairie Ridge senior Cory Simons was selected this week as goalie of the Blackhawk Alumni High School All-Star team. With the input from many high school coaches, Simons earned the honor, which ranks him as the top goalie in the state.

The team is comprised of six players and will have a Media Day at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Center in Chicago. The players will watch a Blackhawks practice, meet players and coaches, tour the locker room and have lunch with former Blackhawks players and management.

There is a second event, the annual Keith Magnuson Scholarship Luncheon on March 8. Simons will be acknowledged and presented with an award for his honor.

The other members of the All-Star team were St. Viator forward Brian Keefe, Barrington forward Austin Bostock, New Trier Green forward Greg Smart, St. Rita defenseman Jack McDonnell and Stevenson defenseman Jack Mannion.
