Go fish!
The Alden-Hebron bass fishing team will have more fish tales to tell after this weekend's IHSA State Bass Fishing Tournament at Carlyle Lake.
The team of Sig Finley and Max Vazquez took second at the Chain O' Lakes Sectional on April 28 and that qualified them to keep on castin' at the state tournament. The Giants' five fish weighed in at 13 pounds and 14 ounces and that was good enough for seventh place out of 57 boats after the first day on the water. They are about four pounds off the lead.
The Rant is just waitin' to see how they finished up on day two, but either way they have had a great run. Maybe they will let The Rant go fishin' with them sometime so I can get some pointers.

The Rant has to mention Marcus Popenfoose from Huntley, who threw the discuss 202 feet, 4 inches at the CL Central Invitational on April 30. This was only the fourth 200-foot throw in state history. The Rant is not goin' out on a limb here, but Popenfoose is gunna win a state title.
Also from Huntley, Amy Fanella won all four of her events at the FVC Girls Meet on Thursday. She took the 100-meter high hurdles, 300 low hurdles, triple jump and anchored the Raiders' winnin' 4x400 relay team. The Rant wants to know where this girl gets her energy from and how can The Rant get some.
