Pictures gettin’ clearer

It has been an interesting week in prep sports with plenty of big games that helped decide who’s bringin’ home the hardware.

The Rant loves seein’ kids step up in big games, and that’s exactly what Mac Town’s Pat Murphy did against Huntley with a stellar pitchin’ performance. Murphy was solid against a good hittin’ Raiders team and allowed no earned runs in a complete-game win.

The win puts the Warriors in the top spot in the FVC Valley Division with the Raiders a game back. The Grove and The Gator are both two games back in third place with six FVC games left. The Raiders have a little easier schedule down the stretch than do the Warriors, and The Rant thinks the Trojans have that same advantage over the Gators.

The Ridge holds a two-game lead in the Fox and could put the division away soon, but not if the Grayslake Old has anything to say about it.

The Grove’s softball team had big wins over Huntley, Jacobs and McHenry and have a share of the title and The Rant thinks next week will have the whole thing. The Ridge is walkin’ away with the Fox.

Huntley’s girls soccer team wrapped up the Valley Division title in their first year in that division, and The Ridge’s girls dominance in the Fox Division earned them a championship.

The Rant also want’s to give a big shout out to the Alden-Hebron bass fishin’ team, who finished third in the state meet.
