Two teams clinch Fox titles

The Rant has to give it up for The Ridge softball team, which beat CL Community to clinch the Fox title and for a Grayslake Old baseball team that won its final five FVC games to win the Fox.

The Grove is holdin’ on to a one-game lead in the Valley in baseball after pitcher Kevin Weber pushed his record to 8-0 with a win over CL South. Weber fanned 11 batters and allowed four hits in a 4-1 victory.

Here’s a side note from The Rant, if you have a dog or any other pet, except for maybe a pet rock, leave them at home! The Rant loves dogs as much as the next guy, just not at a baseball game.

We are there for a baseball game not a dog show, and not for the barkin’ or other drama that comes with bringin’ a dog to a game. Unless yer blind, leave the dog at home and have some consideration for other fans. Actually, it’s not even allowed, but for some reason all of the ADs are sleepin’ on this one and they let it happen.

The only dog The Rant needs to see at a baseball game, or any other game, is one covered in mustard and relish.

In one of the biggest upsets of the entire season, CL Community beat The Ridge, 2-1, in girls soccer in each team’s opening-round playoff game. The Tigers handed the Wolves their first loss in two months and only their second loss of the season.

It is great that the Wolves won the Fox Division and had a great regular season record, but that loss has got to sting.
