Things are heatin’ up

After an eventful weekend that ended regular season play, it’s time for the playoffs.

The Rant saw a lot of parity out there on the baseball diamond this season ... look no further than the fact that the FVC had co-champs in each of its divisions in baseball.

Huntley swept a doubleheader from Jacobs and The Grove split a pair against The Crown, making the Raiders and the Trojans share the Valley title.

The Ridge won its final five regular-season games, all FVC games, to tie for first place with Grayslake Old. The Wolves and the Rams have to rule the Fox Division together.

In softball, The Grove, The Ridge and Marengo all won their respective divisions and The Rant thinks they are also the favorites to make it deep into the playoffs. The Rant just wants to know if he needs to get the RV ready for a trip to state. Ya gotta love East Peoria at the start of summer.

There are two teams left in girls soccer headin’ into Wednesday’s games. Huntley plays Barrington and the winner plays The Grove. The Trojans beat Boylan 3-2 to get to the sectional final.
