Marengo senior Katie Adams, the Northwest Herald Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year, has committed to Iowa and will become a teammate with Woodstock graduate Kayla Beattie.
Adams won every race in her season except the Class 2A race in the IHSA Girls State Cross Country Meet at Detweiller Park. She suffered a sprained right ankle early in the race and finished ninth.
Adams also won the Class 2A 1,600 meters at the IHSA Girls Track and Field State Meet last spring.
Adams will sign her NCAA national letter of intent in February and run cross country and track for the Hawkeyes. Her scholarship offer, between athletics and academics, will cover all her costs of attending Iowa.
