Athlete of the week
ALGONQUIN – In a girls basketball game that was much closer than the Fox Valley Conference standings, Dundee-Crown held on to defeat Jacobs, 42-40, on Tuesday.
BYRON – The Hampshire girls basketball team took third Monday at the Byron Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Tournament, finishing 3-1.
Marengo’s Allison Rogutich was inspired by the IHSA Girls Track and Field State Meet in May.
CARPENTERSVILLE – Cary-Grove co-op swimmer Michael Hamann has swum a lot of different events this season, but what he competes in is based primarily on who can give him the most competition.
CRYSTAL LAKE – After being held to two points in the first quarter Wednesday, the Crystal Lake South girls basketball team scored 15 while shutting out Jacobs in the second quarter en route to a 32-29 Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win.
McHENRY – Jacobs’ Alex Glover knew he was going to have to do things a little differently.
