POPLAR GROVE – Marian Central’s high-energy defensive style is designed to create havoc and make life hard on its opponents. Unfortunately it also had an adverse effect on Marian’s offense Monday night.
Trying to replace a starting point guard once during the season is hard enough. Having to do it twice just seems unfair.
He wasn’t trying to kill the baseball. Just a steady stroke, smooth through the strike zone, solid on the way out – like he’d done thousands of times. Scott Taylor hit a home run in his previous at-bat against Kaneland in the IHSA Class 3A Rochelle Sectional semifinals. Here came another. If he could just … hit … the ball … square.

There was lot of autographing going on Wednesday at Jacobs High School.
McHENRY – With three 6-foot girls in the rotation, McHenry is one of the taller teams in the area.
Luke Waggoner said his East Coast trip to visit three prospective colleges with his parents, David and Lisa, conjured up memories of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.”
