CARBONDALE – Hampshire sophomore Connie Ellett shot an 8-over-par 80 Saturday for a 160 total to earn All-State honors with a 25th-place finish in the IHSA Class AA Girls Golf State Tournament at Hickory Ridge.

HARVARD – Crystal Lake South’s boys golf team achieved a rare feat in its 156-170 Fox Valley Conference win against Woodstock on Tuesday at Plum Tree National.
PALATINE – Dundee-Crown junior Anthony Manfrin was thoroughly enjoying the boys varsity race at the Palatine Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.
FOX LAKE – Ian Sanchez ran a time of 15:57 to win Grant’s James “J.T.” Taylor Invitational on Saturday at Camp Henry Horner and lead Richmond-Burton to a second-place finish at the 12-team cross country meet.

CRYSTAL LAKE – The Prairie Ridge boys soccer team overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit Tuesday by scoring four second-half goals to defeat Woodstock, 5-3, and remain perfect in the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division.
At those inevitable points in a cross country race when Woodstock junior J.D. Fuller’s legs ache and his lungs feel as though they are going to burst, all he has to do is look down.

WEST DUNDEE – Jacobs junior Scott Cahill loved one part of his golf game Saturday at the Dundee-Crown Charger Classic but was frustrated by another.

CRYSTAL LAKE – Alberto Ocampo scored the lone goal for the Prairie Ridge boys soccer team Tuesday in the Wolves’ 1-0 victory gainst Johnsburg in Fox Valley Conference Fox Division play.
WAUCONDA – Crystal Lake South junior Marianne Collard found herself in unfamiliar territory Saturday.
ROCKFORD – Jacobs’ Scott Cahill shot a 1-under-par 71 on Saturday to tie for first place at the Rockford East Brad Frowler Invitational at Aldeen.

LAKEWOOD – Crystal Lake Central’s Riley Bauman shot a 4-under-par 32 on Tuesday to tie the school record for nine holes and lead the Tigers to a Fox Valley Conference win against Huntley at Turnberrry.
Having one of the smartest cross country teams that the area has seen has its advantages, as well as its drawbacks.
CRYSTAL LAKE – Woodstock junior Kayla Beattie turned in her second course-record run at Veteran Acres Park in five days, and this time she left satisfied with her performance.

CRYSTAL LAKE – Cary-Grove’s Phil Fairleigh was able to play the part of unselfish teammate and still get a little something for himself Tuesday.
As best friends, roommates and locker mates, there come occasions when Woodstock sisters Elise and Kayla Beattie have to yield to the competitor inside and try to beat each other.
