LAKE FOREST – The last event of the IHSA Lake Forest sectional was just a topper to a thrilling day of swimming for McHenry’s boys Saturday.
WOODSTOCK – The Cary-Grove co-op boys swimming team can’t possibly gain any more momentum heading into next weekend’s sectionals.
CRYSTAL LAKE – A week away from the unofficial Fox Valley Conference Meet, the Cary-Grove co-op boys swimming team’s 104-66 victory against McHenry raised the excitement level for both teams.
RICHMOND – After scoring 16 points in the first half Thursday, Richmond-Burton’s boys basketball team outscored Byron by 15 in the third quarter to earn a 48-42 Big Northern Conference crossover win.
HUNTLEY– Huntley’s girls basketball team limited McHenry to seven first-half points Tuesday and beat the Warriors,
WAUCONDA – Johnsburg’s wrestling team went 3-0 on Saturday with impressive victories against Vernon Hills, 51-24, Antioch, 47-31, and Wauconda, 39-29, at the Wauconda Bulldog Duals.
McHENRY – McHenry swimmer Reilly Shanahan isn’t sure why, but his times seem to improve after summer break.
WOODSTOCK – With a 51-48 victory against Johnsburg, the Woodstock girls basketball team not only upset the Skyhawks, but the Blue Streaks shook up the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division in the process.
CRYSTAL LAKE – After losing two team captains and state qualifiers in Brent Curtis and Michael Kinross to graduation last spring, Cary-Grove boys swimming coach Jim Andriakos was unsure of how his Trojans would respond to a change in leadership.
CARPENTERSVILLE – The Huntley girls basketball team used a strong first quarter on offense and defense Tuesday to defeat Dundee-Crown, 48-36, for its first Fox Valley Conference Valley Division victory of the season.
HEBRON – The Alden-Hebron boys basketball team won’t get any style points after its 39-37 Northeastern Athletic Conference overtime victory against Kirkland-Hiawatha on Tuesday, but the Giants will take the win.
GRAYSLAKE – Some games, shots just don’t fall.
What started as a joke between Woodstock graduate Derek Brown and his mother turned into a significant career move.
The college recruitment process took a little longer for Cary-Grove’s Brent Curtis, but it was worth the wait.
CARY – The 100-yard freestyle at this year’s IHSA state finals was the culmination of three years of planning and hard work for Cary-Grove swimmer Brent Curtis.
