LINCOLNSHIRE – It was a bitter – and familiar – end to the season for the McHenry boys water polo team.
WOODSTOCK – Junior pitchers Josh Arevalo (3-1) and Pat Maher (4-1) recorded back-to-back shutouts Thursday, combining for 17 strikeouts and no walks in McHenry’s Fox Valley Conference doubleheader sweep of Woodstock, 10-0 and 11-0.
CRYSTAL LAKE– Crystal Lake Central’s Taylor Ward and Sara McConnell combined to pitch a three-hit shutout in a 3-0 Fox Valley Conference Fox Division softball victory against Grayslake Central on Wednesday.
McHENRY – It took until the fourth quarter before the McHenry boys water polo team could get a lead against unranked Wheeling in the Warriors’ 15-9 victory Friday.
MARENGO – Tyler Crater pitched all eight innings and drove in three runs for Hampshire in a 3-2 Big Northern Conference East Division baseball win against Marengo on Thursday.
MCHENRY – The McHenry boys water polo team notched its 20th win of the season Monday, defeating Maine West, 14-2.
HUNTLEY – Huntley freshman Ashley Laxner drove in the game-winning run on a single in the bottom of the eighth inning Wednesday in the Red Raiders’ 2-1 Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win against Crystal Lake South.
FOX LAKE – Madie Edwards scored two first-half goals for the Crystal Lake Central girls soccer team Tuesday as the Tigers opened their season with a 4-1 win against Grant.
SOUTH BELOIT – T.J. Stevens was perfect through three innings, striking out six batters while leading Harvard to a 5-0 victory against South Beloit in the Hornets’ baseball season opener.
McHENRY – Replacing one of the top scorers in the state was a simple process for McHenry’s boys water polo team heading into the season – divide and conquer.
