Area girls golf teams will tee it up this week as the 2011 season begins. Here are three storylines to help follow the action this season:

FLOSSMOOR – Trailing by four holes only six holes into a match against an outstanding opponent, a lesser golfer than Lexi Harkins might have mailed in the rest of the match or come up with an injury and retired.
FLOSSMOOR – Lexi Harkins of Crystal Lake stayed alive in the Western National Junior Championship golf tournament Wednesday by winning a sudden death playoff in match play at Flossmoor Country Club.
PALATINE – Taylor Ellett tried not to think too much about the scholarship.
MARENGO – Last week, Michael DiGrazia remarked that he never had played well at Marengo Ridge, the site of Wednesday’s McHenry County Junior Golf Association Marengo Ridge Open.
BARRINGTON – Luke Waggoner’s situation Wednesday was a near carbon copy of the one he found himself in last year.
This week was a rough one for some of the area’s best big men.
