Girls Track

Marengo’s Allison Rogutich was inspired by the IHSA Girls Track and Field State Meet in May.
The bygone year saw a lot of “firsts” in McHenry County athletics. There were first state champions for schools around the area, record-setting performances, and some athletes who proved they were not only the best in the area, but best in the entire state.
EUGENE, Ore. – Woodstock graduate Kayla Beattie finished second in the junior women’s 3,000-meter run Saturday night at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Oregon.
Event (state-qualfying standards in parantheses; standards listed are FAT).
Kayla Beattie initially thought Woodstock coach Matt McCulley had lost his mind.
CHARLESTON – Cary-Grove’s Carly Loeffel spent two years waiting, working and wondering when she would hit 5 feet, 8 inches again in the high jump.
CHARLESTON – So many times this season, Woodstock senior Kayla Beattie ran eye-popping times, yet still walked away from races dissatisfied.
CHARLESTON – Woodstock’s Kayla Beattie is the fastest girl in Illinois history – in two events.
CHARLESTON – Allison Rogutich feels like there is a monster effort inside her waiting to be unleashed.
CHARLESTON – Cary-Grove’s Carly Loeffel and McHenry’s Ashley Conway, high-jump rivals for their entire high school careers, will have one more competition on the state’s biggest stage.
WOODSTOCK – At the time, Kayla Beattie and her sister Elise were just being kids.

CRYSTAL LAKE – Crystal Lake South senior Kamille Udrenaite wasn’t going to be deterred by a little cold weather or a case of nerves.
As Cary-Grove senior Carly Loeffel arrived at a high jumpers’ camp last summer in Minneapolis, she noticed a familiar face right away.
